Objectives

April 27, 2022

  • SPREAD THE WORD: SMALL WOOD FORESTRY IS THE SOLUTION TO FOREST COLLAPSE – INCLUDING WILDFIRE – AND AN ENORMOUS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY
    • Explain the forest issues, the importance of big trees, and the importance of low-intensity fire in dry forest ecology
    • Actively promote this business opportunity and the critical issue it solves to thinkers, businesses, finance and economic actors
    • Promote and accelerate processes of transition towards greener wood cultural and wood business practices
    • Develop new small-wood business ideas statewide.
  • ACCELERATE THE TRANSITION FROM THEORY TO PRACTICE
    • Promote and facilitate network opportunities among people who are making a difference, providing an environment for accelerating ecology-driven forestry
    • Connect universities (thinkers), innovative companies (entrepreneurs) and the general public (citizens/consumers) in an ideal triangle, facilitating the development of new initiatives
    • Engage with elected representatives to create social conditions that favor the solutions, not the problem.
  • CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE IN FUTURE GENERATIONS
    • Spread positive and constructive messages to the general public
    • Inform and train people in relations to the opportunities opened by the environmental emergency
    • Promote and give maximum visibility to the work of people (scholars, scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, artists) who are breaking new grounds and making a difference in forest ecology and small-wood industry
    • Create a culture that is in healthy relationship to fire.
  • BECOME A MAJOR INDEPENDENT REFERENCE POINT WITHIN THE INTERNATIONAL DEBATE ON HOW TO TACKLE OUT-OF-CONTROL WILDFIRE IN MEDITERRANEAN CLIMATES
    • Transform the scatter-shot events and activities into a larger, and ongoing effort:
      • Encourage continuing artist engagement with forest and fire
      • Continue communication efforts explaining forest issues
      • Continue promoting policy change
      • Continue expanding cutting-edge management tools and strategies
      • Conduct efforts dedicated to the specific problems of each area of the world that suffers from damaging wildfire
